Why Barcelona?

This week we launched our first European city in Barcelona, Spain with a multi-modal fleet of 500 shared, high-performance electric scooters, and 1,000 custom, shared electric bicycles.

Perfect parking with PARKED

When a scoot is parked incorrectly, we often have to send a team member to check on it before that scooter can be rented again. This takes that scooter out of the rotation and makes it harder for everyone to get where they need to go. Do yourself and the rest of the Scoot community a favor and make sure you’re always parked perfectly so there can always be plenty of scoots for everyone to enjoy! We’ve come up with a handy little acronym to help make sure you’re always P.A.R.K.E.D. perfectly.

Continued support by SFMTA for Scoot’s parking permit pilot program

On May 1, 2018, the SFMTA Board of Directors met to review the pilot program for a first-ever shared electric vehicle parking permit in San Francisco. An SF Examiner article covering the hearing makes note, that at a time when much controversy “… and ire are publicly hurled at the e-scooters (Bird, Spin), moped company Scoot is quietly working hand-in-hand with The City’s permitting process… The end result? Moped use is booming.”

We’re adding e-bikes in San Francisco!

SAN FRANCISCO, December 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Scoot Networks, Inc., the leading provider of shared, light electric vehicle (LEV) services, today announced it is adding a full fleet of electric bicycles to its service in San Francisco. The SFMTA Could Improve e-Moped Parking Options on June 20th!

June 12th, 2017

UPDATE June 20th: The SFMTA today approved the proposal creating a new permit allowing shared electric scooters to park at metered parking in San Francisco. Scoot is proud to have worked diligently with SFMTA officials to provide data and input in helping to craft the new regulations. The SFMTA heard input from San Francisco residents and business in determining an equitable solution that helps to advance sustainable forms of transportation throughout the city. Special thanks to individuals in the Scoot rider community who to the time out to have their voices heard by the SFMTA as well.

Changes in our service area

January 26th, 2017

You may have noticed a lot of new scoots on the street and in your Scoot App. It’s not your imagination. We have more than doubled the size of the fleet in the last few months, and that has made scooting easier for everyone!

To make sure our maintenance team can keep all these scoots repaired and recharged, we are changing our service area. Scoots will no longer be left on the steepest hills and in some quieter parts of the city. This will make scoots easier to service and easier to find.

Steve uses Scoot to get to work at a bakery

January 16th, 2017

Steve lives in the Inner Richmond and works at a neighborhood bakery in the Mission. He’s a pastry chef and has to be at work around 4am each morning. When he first started at the bakery, he took the bus each day and had to transfer. At his early start time, buses are scarce and if he missed the first one, he missed the transfer, and had to take a cab.

Help expand on-street Scoot parking!

Last year, with your help, we lobbied the City and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) to pilot a project to exempt scoots (and all electric mopeds) from Residential Parking Permit (RPP) rules. The City gave us the exemption — it’s been awesome, and it’s why you’re able to park your scoot on small curbs (between four and eight feet) in any RPP neighborhood.

The 13 mile rule: keeping scoots charged

Everyone wants a scoot with lots of battery. And we heard your feedback that finding scoots in your neighborhoods with enough battery was becoming difficult. We took those comments, we crunched the numbers, and we came up with a new system to help.

Our new feature, the 13 mile rule, will allow scoots to recharge before they leave Scoot Locations.

Diana turns 30 — and her friends are the best

Oh the things people use Scoot for! A while back we got an email from Rafael, a husband wanting to surprise his wife Diana on her 30th birthday with a scoot ride. He wrote in:

My wife, Diana, and I have been big Scoot fans for a while now. Diana was a pretty early adopter, and spreads the Scoot gospel to anyone who will listen. She’s turning 30 in a few weeks and I want to do something special for her…”

So naturally, together we organized a surprise birthday party for Diana.
