Two Million Miles!

Around this time last year, Scoot hit an important milestone – one million miles. That number took us three years to get to.

This time, it only took one year. That’s right, folks. In the last twelve months, our riders (that’s you!), have helped us reach 2 million electric miles!

Changes in our service area

January 26th, 2017

You may have noticed a lot of new scoots on the street and in your Scoot App. It’s not your imagination. We have more than doubled the size of the fleet in the last few months, and that has made scooting easier for everyone!

To make sure our maintenance team can keep all these scoots repaired and recharged, we are changing our service area. Scoots will no longer be left on the steepest hills and in some quieter parts of the city. This will make scoots easier to service and easier to find.

Laurie uses Scoot to run her business & volunteer

Laurie and her boyfriend live in Bernal Heights and she runs her ceramics business from studios in the Bayview and the Fillmore. She loves Scoot as another option, besides her car, to get places that are hard to reach in the city. “It’s nice to not be tied to parking a car every day”, she says.

Steve uses Scoot to get to work at a bakery

January 16th, 2017

Steve lives in the Inner Richmond and works at a neighborhood bakery in the Mission. He’s a pastry chef and has to be at work around 4am each morning. When he first started at the bakery, he took the bus each day and had to transfer. At his early start time, buses are scarce and if he missed the first one, he missed the transfer, and had to take a cab.

Street Parking 101

Running a Business with Scoot

Help expand on-street Scoot parking!

May 6th, 2016

Last year, with your help, we lobbied the City and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) to pilot a project to exempt scoots (and all electric mopeds) from Residential Parking Permit (RPP) rules. The City gave us the exemption — it’s been awesome, and it’s why you’re able to park your scoot on small curbs (between four and eight feet) in any RPP neighborhood.

The 13 mile rule: keeping scoots charged

Everyone wants a scoot with lots of battery. And we heard your feedback that finding scoots in your neighborhoods with enough battery was becoming difficult. We took those comments, we crunched the numbers, and we came up with a new system to help.

Our new feature, the 13 mile rule, will allow scoots to recharge before they leave Scoot Locations.

Diana turns 30 — and her friends are the best

Oh the things people use Scoot for! A while back we got an email from Rafael, a husband wanting to surprise his wife Diana on her 30th birthday with a scoot ride. He wrote in:

My wife, Diana, and I have been big Scoot fans for a while now. Diana was a pretty early adopter, and spreads the Scoot gospel to anyone who will listen. She’s turning 30 in a few weeks and I want to do something special for her…”

So naturally, together we organized a surprise birthday party for Diana.
