Scoot’s 2019 rider survey results are in!

At Scoot, we are proud of the mobility options we provide our riders, helping them to get where they need to go, in a fun, fast and affordable way.  In a survey of nearly 3,000 riders we ran as part of our permit to operate in San Francisco, 87% of respondents reported liking or loving our kicks, and 98.3% liking or loving our motos. (This survey is from before we launched our new fleet of Scoot kicks, and we’re sure the number would be even higher now!).

Scoot and Las Condes: A Public/Private Alliance for Sustainable Mobility

April 22nd, 2019

The Municipality of Las Condes, Santiago, with the support of Scoot, has launched a pilot program called, “The Holland Plan”, introducing a shared transit zones in the area of El Golf. In these areas, the maximum speed limit is now 30 kilometers/hour (around 18 miles/hour), a significant reduction in speed intended to create a safe space for all types of light vehicles to travel. As part of the pilot, the Municipality has also created a safety enforcement team to oversee the use of the area, and has selected electric Scoot Kicks as the vehicle of choice for the team.

Scoot y Las Condes: Una Alianza Público-Privada de Movilidad Sustentable

April 22nd, 2019

La Municipalidad de Las Condes, apoyada por Scoot, ha lanzado un piloto de zonas de tránsito compartido en el sector de El Golf, denominado “Plan Holanda”. En estas zonas de tránsito compartido la velocidad máxima es de 30 km/h, creando espacios seguros para que todo tipo de vehículos livianos puedan transitar. La Municipalidad además, desplegará una brigada de inspectores preocupados de educar y fiscalizar respecto al uso de estas zonas, y ha elegido los vehículos eléctricos de Scoot como medio de transporte para el equipo de fiscalización.

In our upcoming report to the SFMTA, Scoot is proud to highlight that our average monthly wage for our San Francisco fleet team is $22.51/hour. Amidst stories of mobility gig workers suffering pay cuts or being paid below minimum wage, we are more committed than ever to running Scoot’s fleet operations with full-time mechanics who have full benefits and equity in the company.

QR Codes are here!

We’ve officially launched QR codes in the Scoot app. To use a QR code, all you have to do is tap the scan button, hold the camera up to the QR code and voila – you can now reserve that vehicle. If your camera is broken, You’ll still be able to find the vehicle you want to reserve by tapping around on the map.

Press Release: Scoot’s e-bikes a success so far in Barcelona

Press Release: Scoot Receives Funding from Elemental Excelerator to Expand Technology and Services for Disadvantaged Communities in San Francisco, California

Scoot Networks, the original shared electric mobility provider, announced today that they will receive an investment of up to $750,000 from Elemental Excelerator (EEx), a global infrastructure innovation accelerator, to develop their services for low- to moderate-income (LMI) communities. The investment is being made through the accelerator’s Equity & Access Track, which helps growth-stage startups deliver place-based, community-driven innovation to California’s LMI and disadvantaged communities.

Why Barcelona?

Perfect parking with PARKED

When a scoot is parked incorrectly, we often have to send a team member to check on it before that scooter can be rented again. This takes that scooter out of the rotation and makes it harder for everyone to get where they need to go. Do yourself and the rest of the Scoot community a favor and make sure you’re always parked perfectly so there can always be plenty of scoots for everyone to enjoy! Continued support by SFMTA for Scoot’s parking permit pilot program

On May 1, 2018, the SFMTA Board of Directors met to review the pilot program for a first-ever shared electric vehicle parking permit in San Francisco. The SFMTA Could Improve e-Moped Parking Options on June 20th!

UPDATE June 20th: The SFMTA today approved the proposal creating a new permit allowing shared electric scooters to park at metered parking in San Francisco. Scoot is proud to have worked diligently with SFMTA officials to provide data and input in helping to craft the new regulations. The SFMTA heard input from San Francisco residents and business in determining an equitable solution that helps to advance sustainable forms of transportation throughout the city. Special thanks to individuals in the Scoot rider community who to the time out to have their voices heard by the SFMTA as well.

Changes in our service area

January 26th, 2017

You may have noticed a lot of new scoots on the street and in your Scoot App. It’s not your imagination. We have more than doubled the size of the fleet in the last few months, and that has made scooting easier for everyone!

To make sure our maintenance team can keep all these scoots repaired and recharged, we are changing our service area. Scoots will no longer be left on the steepest hills and in some quieter parts of the city. This will make scoots easier to service and easier to find.

Steve uses Scoot to get to work at a bakery

Steve lives in the Inner Richmond and works at a neighborhood bakery in the Mission. He’s a pastry chef and has to be at work around 4am each morning. When he first started at the bakery, he took the bus each day and had to transfer. At his early start time, buses are scarce and if he missed the first one, he missed the transfer, and had to take a cab.

Help expand on-street Scoot parking!

Last year, with your help, we lobbied the City and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) to pilot a project to exempt scoots (and all electric mopeds) from Residential Parking Permit (RPP) rules. The City gave us the exemption — it’s been awesome, and it’s why you’re able to park your scoot on small curbs (between four and eight feet) in any RPP neighborhood.

The 13 mile rule: keeping scoots charged

Everyone wants a scoot with lots of battery. And we heard your feedback that finding scoots in your neighborhoods with enough battery was becoming difficult. We took those comments, we crunched the numbers, and we came up with a new system to help.

Oh the things people use Scoot for! A while back we got an email from Rafael, a husband wanting to surprise his wife Diana on her 30th birthday with a scoot ride. He wrote in:

My wife, Diana, and I have been big Scoot fans for a while now. Diana was a pretty early adopter, and spreads the Scoot gospel to anyone who will listen. She’s turning 30 in a few weeks and I want to do something special for her…”

So naturally, together we organized a surprise birthday party for Diana.
